We provide artisan entrepreneurs an opportunity to expand their businesses through online and offline initiatives
Local Gift Box
Festive gifting is an integral part of our social practice. Local gift box offers an ethical, indigenous and hand-crafted gifting solution for Indian festivals. These boxes are thoughtfully curated from over 10+ different craft practices across the country unique for each festival.
To fight covid when markets were closed and nobody was meeting each other, we decided to launch the Local Gift Box. Gifts can strengthen relationships. We conducted surveys to judge people’s interest in handicraft items and receiving them as gifts. People were interested but wanted them in an affordable price range of between Rs. 1000-1500.
We strategically curated a box with functional items for every member of any family within the price range and asked the artisans to make the items, hence generating employment for them. The problem was how to reach people because everyone loves, or rather complimentary gifts. So we used this as a strategy and selected 250 people who would receive these boxes for free, with a message that conveyed if they liked the products, they could order them to gift their friends as memorabilia. It started a giveaway chain across the country. The campaign was extremely successful and we received hundreds of orders internationally. We received our KBC invite after taking on this initiative.
Kaarigar sakhi is an initiative for housewives to become independent and find her own voice. A Kaarigar Sakhi acts as a market linkage for artisans by purchasing products from multiple artisans in bulk and selling them in their own circles. A sakhi is trained to become skilled at marketing and communication before she gets connected with the artisans.
We facilitate this collaboration by providing training and ensuring a healthy relationship between the maker and the seller.
Kaarigar Ki Dukan is an online e-commerce marketplace that sells craft products of artisan entrepreneurs from across the country. This marketplace strengthens the voice of the craftspeople by connecting them with stakeholders directly. Buyers get to experience a transparent and reliable shopping process selling exclusive handcrafted products.
Ravivari
Inspired by a local market concept in Ahmedabad, Ravivari is an online platform to sell craft products from communities across the country every Sunday. The platform opens only for 24 hours, from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. Artisans registered on this platform publish a new set of products every Sunday.
Through this initiative, artisans are able to sell their idle stock, which is of high quality but stays unsold for various reasons. The portal provides young craft enthusiasts to whom craft may seem unaffordable a chance to buy unique items at discounted rates.
